Popular media reports claim the World Health Organisation (WHO) has been giving health notifications to governments and the international health community about the threat of a cholera outbreak.
The body emphasized on the effectiveness of the Oral Cholera Vaccines (0CV) which has been an efficient tool to control the epidemic.
South Sudan, and Tanzania are currently battling with the epidemic which is being aided by insecurity and displacement. WHO has devised intensive control efforts and vaccination programmes to help cummunities vulnerable.
Also, in conflict-wrecked Yemen and earthquake-ravaged Nepal, WHO has been working with national authorities and partners on the ground to prepare for any outbreak as well as acute water diarrhoea.
Ebonyi, Jos, Rivers and several parts of the Northern areas have battled with the disease in recent times in Nigeria.
