The Wait is Over! Dr. Dre Announces the Release of His New Album in 15 Years - #Compton

 

During his Beats 1 radio show 'The Pharmacy', over the weekend, Hip hop mogul, Dr. Dre, announced that he will release his first album in 16 years — but it won’t be the much anticipated 'Detox.' The new album is titled "Compton A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre", and will be available Aug. 7 on Apple Music.

The rapper billionaire producer said, “The album will come out on Aftermath/Interscope Records a week before the release of the film "Straight Outta Compton," which depicts the rise and fall of Dr. Dre’s former hip hop group, N.W.A.

 

 

Dr. Dre said the album includes features from Ice Cube, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem and Snoop Dogg. And that the album was inspired by the N.W.A. biopic "Straight Outta Compton", which is out August 14.

Former N.W.A member, Ice Cube makes an appearance on the album, as do frequent Dr. Dre collaborators Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, and Eminem. This will be Dr. Dre’s first release since 1999’s "The Chronic 2001", which went sextuple platinum.

 

Dr. Dre revealed on his show that he scrapped his follow-up effort, "Detox", after years of work. 'It just wasn’t good. The record, it just wasn't good. I worked my ass off on it and I don't think I did a good enough job.'

Compton: A Soundtrack by Dre, is good enough but is also likely to be his last, the star said. "I felt myself being so inspired by the movie that I started to record an album. I kept it under wraps. The album is finished. It's going to be my grand finale. The record is bananas."
