The seriousness in the senate momentarily went comical when Senator Dino Melaye (Kogi West) addressed the Senate President, Bukola Saraki as 'Speaker'.
The odd moment took place when Melaye, who is a loyalist of Saraki was advocating for the labour rights of the enstranged ex-workers of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
According to DailyTrust, Melaye reportedly stood up to raise a point of order 41(b) over the alleged illegal disengagement of workers of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) when he addressed Saraki as "Mr Speaker Sir" instead of the usual "The Senate President Sir".
This attracted a moment of laughter by his colleagues. Immediately after the laughter, Melaye sought to tender a petition written by the disengaged workers. The Senate President granted his plea and he tendered the petition.
The petition as presented by Senator Melaye is seeking the Senate to compel the FIRS to re-engage the disengaged staff
