Female MFM Pastor Remanded in Prison Over Visa Scam (Photo)

 

It is definitely not a good time for a pastor of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry, Yaba headquarters, (Mrs) Joy Tongo who is currently remanded in prison pending on when she meets her bail requirements.

 

According to P.M news, the crime was committed in Lagos State. Tongo reportedly scammed one Stanley Dim of a sum of N300,000 over the procurement of visa and other travel requirements to China. Tongo allegedly promised to introduce her victim to her partner in China for a missionary journey. She also convinced Dim about the possibilities of staying back to work.

Dim, who did not suspect any foul play, gave her the money and she promised to get back to him with the visa, a day before the journey.Tongo allegedly failed to deliver the visa on the day she promised Dim. The travel period also elapsed and there was no alternative arrangement for the trip to China.

 

Tongo then resorted to deceiving her victim that the travel date had been postponed to a future date. All her excuses failed and Dim was forced to demand a refund of his money. The failure of Tongo to make a refund led to her arrest by the men of the Alakara police division. She was later charged to court with obtaining under false pretence and stealing, under the Criminal Code..

Tongo pleaded not guilty and the presiding Magistrate, Mrs Joy Ugbomoiko, granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail.

The matter was adjourned till 5th September, 2015.
