Man Docked Over Alleged N1.9m Visa Fraud

A man was arraigned on Tuesday for alleged N1.9 million visa fraud.

 
A man has been arraigned over allegation of obtaining and converting the sum of 1.4m and N500,000 under false pretence from one Mrs. Comfort Taiwo and Rebecca Oristoberu respectively, after promising to procure visa for the daughters to study in the Uk.
 
The 46-year-old Isaac Oloyede was arraigned in Ile-Ife Magistrate Court on Tuesday by the police. Police Prosecutor, Insp. John Idoko told the court that Oloyede committed the offence between June 20, July 1 and Oct. 15, 2014, respectively around 12:30am at Parakin Area, in Ile-Ife.
 
Idoko told the Court the offence was contrary to section 383 (1) and punishable under section 390 (8), (b), (9) and 419 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2003.
 
Oloyede pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge of conspiracy, obtaining money under false presence, conversion of N1.9 million to personal use and stealing.
 
His Defence Counsel, Mr. Michael Koyejo pleaded on his client's case to be granted bail, promising that the accused will not jump bail.
