Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Lagos State command, has closed about 80 illegal private security guard companies in the state.
The Lagos State Command of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), on Thursday said it has shut down about 80 illegal private security guard companies in the past 10 months.
Disclosing this to newsmen, The NSCDC State Commandant, Mr. Gabriel Abafi said the companies were operating with expired licences.
Abafi said: “We have closed 80 private security outfits in the state for failing to register with the government or operating with expired licences. Some of them are operating with expired licences, while others did not register their companies.’’
He however warned private security organisations operating in the state to renew their licences without delay while also emphasizing that the corps has the statutory mandate to inspect private security guards’ companies to ensure that they operate legally.
Abafi also noted that some of the illegal companies are making effort to register their companies legally as the registration is still ongoing.
