About 7 corps will repeat the service year for absenteeism while 20 others were given extension for poor performance

State Coodinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Akwa Ibom state, Mrs. Ngozi Chukwuka has revealed that Seven corps members will repeat the exercise while 20 others got extension of their service year.
She said this during the passing out ceremony held in Uyo on Thursday. Chukwuka further revealed that the seven corps members had absconded from service and will not be given discharge certificates unless they repeat the exercise. She also said the other 20 who got extension for absenteeism and poor performance in their primary assignments will also serve their extension time before discharge certificates will be given them as a lesson to others.
Chukwuka said: “The extension ranges from one week to two months for minor cases.
“But those who absconded or who have not been around for the past three months will repeat their service.
“There are seven corps members for this 2014 batch ‘C’ in the state; most of them absconded during the service year.”
In his speech, Gov. Udom Emmanuel, represented by the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mr. Monday Uko, urged the corps members to be good ambassadors of the nation. He asked them not to forget the training they've received and should use it to create jobs as the era of white collar jobs was over.
Many of the corps members were overjoyed to see the end of the service year and used the opportunity to thank the people of the state for their hospitality.
