I Need More Security! - Former SGF, Anyim Writes Buhari Over Alleged Plot to Set Him Up

 

Anyim who is a former Senate President in a letter dated Monday, December 7, 2015 and addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari, expressed worry over plans being made against him and his associates.

ThisDay reports that Anyim disclosed that he had since discovered that the masterminds of the plot are a bunch of hirelings operating as a network and are recruiting others to act as their undercover agents.

He said: “I have watched their orchestrations unfold in the last five months. The need to raise this alarm arose because their next move could be dangerous and deadly.

“I may not need at this point to name the suspected masterminds but I believe that a clear presentation of their mode of operation will provide a useful lead to the investigating authorities.”

Explaining how those behind the plot intend to go about it, Anyim said in the first phase, the perpetrators are planning to roll out concocted petitions on any matter they can logically or illogically link up to him.
 

He noted that: “The petitions are raised under various names, groups, non-existing Pseudonyms, or by lawyers who are in their network and ostensibly, captured government’s attention.

“For example, their earlier petitions against me focused on corruption with the Centenery City project as their primary target or anything related to the Secretary to the Federal Government during my tenure. Their allegations were incoherent, reckless and baseless.”

He said further that the second phase of the ploy would entail orchestrated blackmail that would be backed by massive media publicity, particularly with allegations that government and other anti-corruption agencies are not willing to promptly investigate and prosecute him.

He also alleged that: “A number of media houses were engaged to facilitate this dubious scheme, and the strategy includes the granting of interviews by some members of their network.

“They also hired groups to address press conferences. They sponsored streaming headlines appearances on electronic media, political programmes, as well as online publications.

“It is now necessary at this point to bring to your excellency’s attention, a dangerous news story published by an online medium captioned: ‘Former Secretary to the Federal Government, Pius Anyim Under Investigation over Allegation that he is Funding pro-Biafra Protests (December 2, 2015).

“The story is part of this grand plan to impugn my integrity, and set me up against the Federal Government of Nigeria and other Nigerian stakeholders.”
