A tragic incident has claimed the live of a three-year-old after she fell from an escalator on the fourth floor of a shopping mall, Mirror reports.
The small child was seen on CCTV camera as she played at the bottom of the mechanical device before standing up and grabbing the handrail.
Two other girls also appear to be playing next to her. But as the girl climbs up onto the device, she is suddenly swept away by the moving handrail and is seen clinging on for dear life.
Tragically, the little girl was unable to maintain her grip and fell four storeys to the ground floor. The story was originally reported by CCTV News and is believed to have taken place in a shopping centre in Kunming, in southwest China's Yunnan Province.
The incident follows a number of tragic escalator deaths in China. One mother was killed when the escalator panels fell away and swallowed her up into the conveyor system. Another woman had a narrow escape when the exact same thing happened for a second time, this time in Shenyang.
The video shows the young child playing near the elevator before the ugly incident.
