Without a doubt, there is no such thing as a perfect body type, but it is understandable that many people, including entertainers, always want to look their best.
As a result of this, many entertainers have undergone surgical procedures and devised other means to get the bodies of their dreams.
Saturday Beats takes a look at some entertainers that have had drastic body changes
Eniola Badmus
Actress, Eniola Badmus, has lost tremendous weight in the past months. According to her, she had often been taunted for her weight over the years, and that motivated her to shed some kilogrammes.
In an interview with City People Magazine in December 2021, Badmus said, “In terms of my look, a lot has changed due to a decision I made. With the pressure and stigma I have gone through, I want to change that. I want to surprise everyone and also help myself.
“Things got to a point that I could not control what I ate anymore. I eat anything, so far it is edible. From there, I knew something fishy was going on. So far, I have lost 33kg.
Though some people insinuated that the actress went under the knife, she has neither confirmed nor denied it, but some of her staunch supporters insist that she was able to lose that much weight by dieting and observing a fitness regimen.
Tonto Dikeh
Controversial actress, Tonto Dikeh, has not been shy to admit that she had a medical procedure to achieve kind of body she desired.
In August 2021, she said, “I have laughed a lot lately on the subject that if one does surgery, one should not use a waist trainer. Listen up, people; you need a waist eraser/trainer to follow up on your lipo (liposuction).
“Your gym has to be your best friend too. I am personally too lazy for that, so I opted for non-surgical body enhancement.
“Liposuction is simply taking fat from one part of one’s body to another part. One eats every day, so fat will ‘grow’ back. I have had two liposuction procedures, and I am waiting for my third, though I stay fit.”
Nina Ivy
A former Big Brother Naija housemate, Nina Onyenobi, aka Nina Ivy, said she opted for cosmetic surgery because there were some outfits she could not put on without wearing body shapers. She added that having cosmetic surgery meant she did not have to wear body shapers anymore.
In an interview with Saturday Beats in July 2021, she had said, “I have always wanted to make some changes to my body, especially after the birth of my child. Since I made that decision, I feel great and love my body more. I always had to wear body shapers with certain outfits but now, I don’t have to. My advice to people who troll celebrities that undergo cosmetic surgery is that they should channel their energy into things that will be beneficial to them. They should let people live their lives.”
Mercy Eke
The season four winner of BBN, Mercy Eke, is another person who has been open about her decision to undergo cosmetic surgery. Speaking in an interview with media personality, Temisan Okomi, in June 2022, Eke said, “I did it for myself. I did it to enhance (improve) my confidence. I want to look good in whatever I wear. I’m into fashion. I ought to have a certain type of body.
“I feel like those who are hiding the truth probably don’t have the confidence. They feel like they did it (surgery) for someone. But, I did it for myself. I did it to sell my business. I don’t think there is anything to be ashamed of in enhancing one’s body.”
Eke also stated that people who bleach their skins and fix eyelashes in the same category as those who do cosmetic surgery.
Khloe
Another former BBN housemate, Oluwabusayo Abiri, aka Khloe, admitted to doing cosmetic surgery to achieve a curvy look. However, she stated that if she had another opportunity to do it again, she will not accept it because the procedure was very painful.
In an interview with media personality, Temisan Okomi, in October 2021, Khloe said, “If I am given N100m and told to do another surgery again, I won’t do it. It is painful.
“Do you know that having surgery for any part of one’s body, or even taking an injection is painful? Now imagine the extra pain of removing and adding.”
Ever since she acquired her new body, the ex-BBN housemate has constantly flaunted it on social media with many drooling over her.
Lepacious Bose
Comedian and actress, Bimbo Ogunboye, aka Lepacious Bose, used to be known for her plus size. However, she drastically shed some weight, which got many people talking. According to her, the process took a lot of hard work, commitment and discipline.
In an interview with Premium Times in October 2017, Lepacious Bose, spoke about her weight loss journey. She said, “I tell people that there is nothing miraculous about weight loss. I was actually losing weight right under their noses but they did not notice it. I began my weight loss journey about four years ago and I have not stopped.”
Speaking further, Ogunboye noted that the cyber bulling she faced after she lost weight came as a surprise to her. She said, “I used to think that when I lose weight the whole world would love me and celebrate me for it. But, that was not the case for me at first. The avalanche of criticisms and cyber bullying I faced came as a rude shock to me. People said so many negative things about me online.”
Princess Onyejekwe
A former BBN housemate, Princess Onyejekwe, got many people talking after her body changed drastically. Though some people opined that it was a result of cosmetic surgery, she did not respond to those claims.
In an interview with Saturday Beats in June 2019, she said, “Nobody has really come out to ask me what I did with my body and until they come out to do that, I don’t feel the need to give anyone a response. I did not do anything to endanger other species on earth. Whatever I did was with me. They are rumours and it is fine. That is what happens when one is in the spotlight.”
Toke Makinwa
Actress, media personality and socialite, Toke Makinwa, has been vocal about her decision to undergo cosmetic surgery. She has also advised women to embrace it if they so desire.
In a November 2020 episode of her YouTube series, ‘Toke Moments’, she maintained that she did not regret taking that decision. She said, “Yes, I worked on my body, but my breast is real. I had a lip filler because I wanted to launch my lipstick brand, but now I don’t think it is necessary (anymore).
“Also, I enhanced my body after I underwent surgery to remove fibroids. I did that because I wanted to feel better in clothes. I do not regret enhancing my body. It is the best thing I have ever done. I wanted to look curvy and I love it.”
