Commonwealth Games: Nigeria's Mary Taiwo Osijo Wins Bronze (Photo)

 

Nigerian weightlifter, Mary Taiwo Ojo has clinched Bronze at the ongoing Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

 

This is as Taiwo Laidi had also added a medal to the haul.

 

Osijo clinched the Bronze medal in the Women’s 87kg Weightlifting event, lifting a combined total weight of 225kg.

 

The Nigerian displayed a series of emotions as she won Bronze at the National Exhibition Centre on day five of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

 

Osijo had an unblemished series, lifting all attempts she made in both categories, and deservedly won the Bronze medal.

 

Earlier in the day, Taiwo Laidi set the pace as she made a Junior Commonwealth Games Record after lifting a total weight of 216kg. Laidi won the Silver medal in the women’s 76kg event, and claimed Team Nigeria’s 5th medal at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
