Police Rescue 12 Abducted Victims In Zamfara

Twelve victims abducted by bandits have been rescued by men of the Zamfara State police Command, on Tuesday, from a bandits’ den.

Punch gathered that the rescued victims, who had spent one month in captivity, were abducted by armed bandits and taken to the Kare Kukanka forest, a bandit camp headed by a notorious leader known as Bello Maibille.

An impeccable police source noted that a tactical unit of the Zamfara Police Command, in conjunction with some vigilante, acting on intelligence, had stormed the Kare Kukanka forest in the early hours of Tuesday to rescue the victims and dislodge the bandits.

Zamfara police spokesperson, Mohammed Shehu, confirming the incident, noted that of the 12 kidnap victims is a five-month-old baby girl.

Shehu said, “Our tactical operatives attached to 42 PMF Squadron Gusau, while on joint operations with the vigilante near Dajin Kare Kukanka forest, acted on intelligence report that led to the unconditional rescue of 12 hostages including a five-month-old baby girl from Rungawa village in Talata Mafara Local Government Area.

“The victims who were rescued unhurt were abducted by armed bandits and taken to the Kare Kukanka forest, a bandit camp of a notorious bandit leader popularly known as Bello Maibille, and had spent one month in captivity.

“They were medically checked at 42 PMF Clinic in Gusau, and thereafter debriefed by the police, and have been handed over to their families.”

Shehu noted that the Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Kolo Yusuf, assured the public of the Command’s commitment to apprehending the perpetrators of this dastardly act.
