Nigerians have been told that Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi may shock many people and win the 2023 presidential election.
A political analyst in Zamfara State, Umar Mohammed made the submission in a chat with DailyPost.
He pointed out that though LP party does not have a recognized structure or functional offices in many states of the federation, Obi has won the support and admiration of many Nigerians.
Mohammed added that the crisis rocking the two major parties in the country – the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) may just give the former Anambra State Governor the edge in the forthcoming elections.
Speaking during a chat with Daily Post, the analyst submitted that it is obvious Obi gave popularity to the Labour Party and has been making great waves ahead of the 2023 polls.
He said: “Search everywhere in Sokoto and Zamfara states, you cannot find any structure or secretariat of Labour party (LP), even though the party is one of the strongest contenders ahead of 2023 general elections.”
“We all know very well that Labour Party did not make Peter Obi, but he made the party. Before now, nobody knew the existence of the Labour Party.
“But as Obi was made the party’s presidential candidate, the party became so powerful, and it is now a party to be reckoned with.”
Speaking further, Mohammed said the Muslim-Muslim ticket as well as the failure of the APC government in many areas which has left Nigerians frustrated and the internal wrangling troubling the PDP may just give Peter Obi and the Labour Party the edge during the 2023 elections.
According to him, the political cracks in PDP and APC may just favour Obi.
“From all indications, Nigerians are tired of APC government due to lingering terrorism affecting lives, properties, and legitimate business activities of innocent citizens of the country,” he added.
He concluded that even if Obi doesn’t win the 2023 presidential election, he has set a record with his growing popularity and acceptance among Nigerians.
“This Peter Obi’s first time of contesting for the country’s presidential race and he is pulling such crowd everywhere even if he losses, he has created record,” he said.
