2023: It’s Nobody’s Turn – Peter Obi Throws Shades At Tinubu

Posted by Thandiubani on Wed 28th Sep, 2022 - tori.ng

The former Governor of Anambra State said this on Tuesday during a visit to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, at his palace in Ile Ife, Osun State.

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi has urged Nigerians not to vote for any candidate saying it is his or her turn to become President.

Obi made the submission when he visited the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, at his palace in Ile Ife, Osun State on Tuesday.

Obi stated that no candidate should be entitled to become the President of Nigeria, subtly mocking the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.

The LP Presidential candidate said anyone that suceeds President Muhammadu Buhari should see such an opportunity as a service and not a reward.

He said it is the turn of Nigeria and Nigerian youths to elect their leader in 2023, asking the people to resist politicians who are planning to manipulate them.

The former governor also said they should not vote based on religion, stressing that the bribe politicians give is stolen from the treasure of the nation.

He said: “So let’s not listen to the crime, it is we the politicians and elite to manipulate you. It’s enough. Don’t look at our religion, Let nobody tell you that it’s their entitlement. It is nobody’s turn.

“It’s Nigeria’s turn. It’s the turn of Nigerian youths. So, nobody would take anything from them this time. Nobody is entitled to it. And don’t take their money, it’s your money they are giving you. They didn’t print money.”

Obi said it was unacceptable for the country not to be able to produce food for the people despite abundant human and mineral resources.

The former Anambra governor also asked Nigerians not to vote for him because he is from South East or because of his religion.

He said: “We have enough land and resources to make provision for feeding the country. A state can feed this nation, not to talk of 36 states. We should not wait for crude oil alone from the Niger Delta to sustain us. Enough land and fund are available for the citizenry.

“Everybody in Nigeria is suffering, including Nigerian youths. Enough of manipulation! Please, don’t consider tribe. It is nobody’s turn! It is Nigerians’ turn!

“Nobody should vote for me because I am an Igbo man or a southeast man or because of my religion. There’s no tribe where people are eating free food. People are not buying bread cheaper in the southwest than in the southeast. Poor people in Nigeria are suffering in Nigeria.”

Recall that Obi and some LP stakeholders on Tuesday visited the palace of the renowned Yoruba monarch. The visitation is considered as part of consultations for his 2023 presidential ambition.
