A 41-year-old man, Ovundah Wiche, has been arrested by police operatives in Rivers State.
The man was arrested for stabbing his father to death in Ndudor Community, Choba, near Port Harcourt, the state capital.
Though details of the incident are still sketchy, an eyewitness said the tragic incident occurred on Thursday during a very heated argument between Wiche, and his father.
The suspect was said to have dashed into the house and emerged with a knife moments after the tensed argument and stabbed his father on his head and neck leading to his death.
Confirming the tragic incident, the Spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko Wiche, said the man has been arrested and investigation had commenced into the incident.
She said the victim was stabbed in the neck, but the circumstances surrounding the killing cannot be ascertained at the time of confirming the incident and filing this report.
Meanwhile, members of the Ndudor Community in Choba are in shock and had been thrown into mourning over the incident.
Some of members of community who do not want to be quoted claimed that the suspect had been showing signs of depression and may be suffering from elements of mental illness.
