Some gunmen have caused panic in a village in Kaduna State after storming the place.
The residents of Akilibu village in the Chikun Local Goverment Area of Kaduna State fled as the gunmen invaded the village along Kaduna-Abuja road, shooting sporadically and abducting a pregnant woman and her teenage daughter.
A resident in the area, Mr. Shuaibu Didam Auta, told DAILY POST in Kaduna on Sunday that the incident, which happened around 8.30pm Saturday, threw several villagers into panic as many of them ran into bush upon hearing the sound of gunshots.
He said the bandits went straight into the bedroom to kidnap the husband of the victim but he was not at home, making them abduct his wife, and her teenage daughter.
“We couldn’t sleep because of the gunshots. They (bandits) came to the village around 8:30pm when people were still awake. They went straight to the man’s house who is a local farm manager but he was not at home at the time,” he said.
According to him, the bandits disguised as security operatives. He added that their actions gave them away.
The Kaduna Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mohammed Jalige, did not pick his calls for confirmation as at the time of filling this report.
