A lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi called out the DSS in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
The Department of State Services (DSS) has began an investigation after its personnel was accused of begging for money at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos.
DSS took the decision after a lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi called out the agency in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
The legal practitioner said it was an embarrassment to Nigeria that DSS officers vetting people coming into the country beg for money.
“One can forgive Immigration and Customs officers because this is simply customary, but that a very important agency like the DSS is shocking. This is a wake up call to DG DSS.
“The entire world is moving on from petty irresponsibility, people are not being delayed for security questioning, but with abeg bless your boy”, he wrote.
In a reaction, Peter Afunanya, DSS Public Relations Officer announced that an investigation has commenced.
Afunanya urged Olajengbesi and any member of the public with evidence of similar allegation to forward such evidence for appropriate actions.
Olajengbesi was a counsel to Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Igboho.
