Scores of bus passengers have been kidnapped in Kaduna.

They were kidnapped along the Kiyaya-Kititi Road in Kaduna State by suspected terrorists.

SaharaReporters learnt that although the incident occurred on December 3, the victims are still with their abductors.

According to reports, the gunmen accosted four vehicles on their way to Abuja and abducted the passengers.

“The kidnappers have started calling the families of their victims and demanding a ransom within the range of N10million to N50million,” a source said.

“On December 3, between Kiyaya and Kititi, in Kaduna (on their way to Jos from Abuja), about four vehicles travelling were hijacked and some passengers were abducted in broad daylight,” the source added.

It was further revealed that the kidnappers voluntarily released a nursing mother ten days after the incident and killed two victims who attempted to escape.

“However, it was learned that they willingly released a nursing mother and her baby that evening and in the process of that three persons escaped but two persons out of three who allegedly attempted to escape were killed. Till now, we are yet to hear from the abductors. I learned they were selectively picked from each vehicle numbering over 20 persons,” the source added.

SaharaReporters had only reported in November that terrorists struck in Idon, Kajuru Local Government Area and Oil Village, a suburb of Kaduna metropolis, in the same state.

It was learnt that the terrorists, numbering about 15, invaded a Catholics priest’s residence in Idon at midnight and abducted him.

In September, SaharaReporters also reported how terrorists attacked some communities in the Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna State, killing three persons during the assault.

According to witnesses, the victims were farmers who were at work on their crops when the bandits attacked.

Although the police and other security agencies failed to comment on the attack, Ishaq Kasai, the Birnin-Gwari Emirate Progressives Union chairman, said that the bandits kidnapped 22 individuals and stole motorcycles.
