It was alleged that the ushers were reportedly concerned about catering to the dignitaries only.
Some supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party have disgraced themselves at a campaign rally.
According to Punch, the supporters fought over cooked rice resulting in a chaotic scene at the campaign ground in Asaba, Delta state's capital on Thursday, December 29.
Punch reported that the fight ensued around 10am when supporters of the party who were waiting for the state governor and vice presidential candidate of the party, Ifeanyi Okowa, as well as the governorship candidate, Sheriff Oborevwori, called out repeatedly for food which was packaged in a polythene bag.
It was alleged that the ushers were reportedly concerned about catering to the dignitaries only.
The situation led to a fight between the ushers and the supporters as the bags of the cooked rice were torn into pieces. It also drew the attention of dignitaries and interrupted the governorship candidate who was making his speech.
After peace was restored at the event, Okowa blamed the All Progressives Congress for inflicting hunger in the land.
He said;
“It is the APC that brought hunger to us. A bag of rice was N8,000 before the APC came to power; now a bag of rice is 48,000.
“Everything has gone down in Nigeria since the APC came to power. You know my political history, it is God that made it possible.
“As Atiku picked me as vice presidential candidate, God has finished His work in me because I know we will win the 2023 election.”
