Nigerian athlete Tobi Amusan has added another milestone to her records.

She has shattered the African women’s indoor record in the 60 meter hurdles at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston on Sunday, February 4.

Tobi Amusan blazed through the track, clocking an impressive 7.75 seconds, surpassing her own previous record of 7.77 seconds set in Kazakhstan just a month ago.

Despite her remarkable achievement, Tobi Amusan secured the second position in Boston, narrowly trailing behind America’s Tia Jones, who claimed first place with a swift 7.72 seconds.

The competition remained fierce, with Bahama’s Devynne Chalton closely following Amusan in third place, finishing in 7.76 seconds.

Tobi Amusan had already made waves earlier in the athletic season on January 27 when she bested the African record previously held by her compatriot Gloria Alozie.

In another thrilling event, Nigerian athlete Favour Ofili showcased her prowess in the women’s 300 meters, finishing an admirable second with a time of 35.99 seconds.

The victory was claimed by Gabby Thomas from the US, who set a world-leading time of 35.75 seconds.

Adding to the Nigerian success, Lynna Irby-Jackson from the US secured the third position with a time of 36.05 seconds.

It’s worth noting that Favour Ofili already holds the African indoor record in the women’s 200 meters, a title she earned in March 2023.
