Carolyna Hutchings
Popular Nigerian actress, Carolyna Hutchings has advised women to focus on their development so that they can be financially secure.
She stated this while sharing her thoughts on relationships and financial independence for women in Nigeria.
Her comments come amid the ongoing custody dispute between Afrobeats star Davido and Sophia Momodu over their daughter, Imade Adeleke.
In an Instagram post, the 37-year-old actress stated, “As a woman living in Nigeria, as long as that man is assumed to be richer than you, he will always be right.” .
She advised women to focus on their own development – financially, spiritually, and mentally – to avoid potential exploitation in relationships.
Hutchings encouraged women to take their time in relationships, saying, “Don’t rush into anything, so you don’t rush out of it or stay in it while dying in sorrow.”
She emphasized the importance of self-love and protection, urging women to be discerning about who they allow into their lives.
The actress suggested that by achieving personal and financial security, women would be better positioned to choose partners who are “kind, loving and caring.”
Her comments highlight the complex dynamics of relationships and gender roles in Nigerian society, particularly when there are significant financial disparities between partners.
While Hutchings didn’t directly reference the Davido-Momodu situation, her timing and message appear to be in response to the high-profile custody dispute, offering broader advice to women in similar situations.
