World-famous footballer and Argentina captain, Lionel Messi and four of his Argentina teammates have been included in Conmebol’s 2024 Copa América Team of the Tournament.
The Team of the Tournament was named over two weeks after it ended.
Messi scored only one goal and set up one more in five appearances during the competition.
Inter Milan striker, Lautaro Martínez, who scored the winning goal in the final, was chosen in attack alongside Barcelona winger, Raphinha, the only Brazil player included.
Colombia captain, James Rodríguez, is selected in a three-man midfield alongside Uruguay’s Manuel Ugarte and Argentina’s Rodrigo de Paul.
Celtic’s Alistair Johnston is one of four defenders, with Colombia’s Davinson Sánchez, Argentina’s Cristian Romero and Ecuador’s Piero Hincapié named at left-back.
Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez, who proved key in Argentina only conceding one goal during the tournament in the United States, was selected in goal.
