The mayor lauded his musical influence and how he brings joy to the people through it.

Nigerian afrobeats star, Rema has been given a certificate of recognition by mayor of Boston.

The mayor recognized the singer's global influence and commended him for bringing joy to the people through it.

The writing on the award read:

“In recognition of his global influence and ability to bring joy to people in Boston and beyond, we honor Rema for championing Afrobeat and promoting African culture worldwide. His music resonates across continents while preserving the spirit of Africa both in Boston and beyond, Rema continues to inspire by proudly representing the richness of African identity and creativity. On behalf of the City of Boston, we extend our sincere congratulations.”
