Laolu Akande Slams FG For Honouring Kwam 1 After He Broke Nigerian Law

Akande, faulted the speed with which the musician was honoured with such a recognition after breaking the rules at the Nnamdi Azikiwe’s International Airport, Abuja.

Laolu Akande, an ex-spokesperson of former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has lashed out at the Federal Government of President Bola Tinubu.

He argued that Tinubu's government is rewarding bad behaviour after it made musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, aka KWAM 1 an ambassador.

Speaking as a guest on Channels Television’s ‘Sunrise Daily’ on Thursday, Akande, faulted the speed with which the musician was honoured with such a recognition after breaking the rules at the Nnamdi Azikiwe’s International Airport, Abuja.

Recall that the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, on Wednesday, confirmed that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, had agreed to reduce KWAM 1’s flight ban to one month.

Keyamo also noted that the musician would work with the NCAA to promote awareness on acceptable conduct within the aviation space.

Reacting, the former spokesman of the ex-Vice President said, “This may be a right thing but this is not the right thing now. You can be shoveling down somebody who represented misbehavior, who endangered a flight, and everybody, indeed, and as a matter of fact, who almost breached national security.

“You can’t simply in one week say the person is an ambassador for protocol and security at the airport. That’s not done. That is the most important thing that has happened, and it is devastating to our psyche as a people.

“This is not how people in government ought to be behaving. If you want to make him an ambassador, wait down the road. It’s pretty too early in the game. It sends the wrong signals.”
