Addressing the press at her resumption, Bala described himself as the authentic National Chairman of the ADC.
Nafiu Bala has declared himself the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, ADC on Wednesday.
This is as the leadership crisis rocking the party intensified.
He explained that the electoral act and ADC’s constitution put him as the natural successor after Ralph Nwosu resigned as the party’s National Chairman.
Nwosu had resigned from his position after the opposition coalition adopted ADC, a few months ago.
Upon Nwosu’s resignation, David Mark was appointed as the Interim National Chairman of the party.
But Bala, who is the Deputy National Chairman had accused the coalition leaders like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of hijacking the ADC.
However, Bala said: “As our party’s National leadership, we are not aware of any change of leadership.
“Our party’s former National chairman voluntarily resigned his position as the national Chairman of the party.
“Our party’s constitution is very clear on the transfer of power or what we can do when the party’s national chairman resigns.
“As far as our party is concerned, the electoral act and our party constitution says the deputy National Chairman can takeover the leadership of the party.
“I now resume office as the authentic National Chairman of our great party, the African Democratic Congress, APC.”
