Nollywood actress and producer Etinosa Idemudia has encouraged individuals living away from their parents to stay connected and regularly check in on them.
She shared this message on social media while talking about how many parents feel when their children grow older and move away, especially to other countries.
According to her, most adults become busy with work, marriage and raising their own families, but this should not make them forget the parents who raised them.
Etinosa explained that many parents have children with the hope that they will not face old age alone.
However, things do not always turn out that way, as distance and new responsibilities sometimes cause children to drift away.
She added that parents may feel lonely when their children are far apart from them, even if they understand that life has taken them in new directions.
She wrote: “If you and your siblings live very far from your parents, please try to check on your parents regularly.
"I know you are busy with your new life, career and kids, but don’t forget when they were Young, they gave birth thinking “when I’m old, I will not be lonely.
"My children will surround me”, but reality hits different, reality hits hard… Especially old ones with children abroad
“At the end of the day, sometimes, having kids because you want company in future doesn’t always pan out that way.”
