Tony Perkins, a popular American TV host, has said he declined a request from Nigeria’s First Lady, Remi Tinubu, to use his platform to allegedly downplay claims of genocide against Nigerian Christians.
In a viral video on Sunday night, the broadcaster revealed that the First Lady approached him to discuss religious freedom issues in the country but he declined the request.
He spoke while hosting Chris Smith, a US lawmaker during Washington Watch.
Mr Perkins accused the President Bola Tinubu government of move to cover up the k!lling of innocent Nigerian Christians.
According to him, Remi Tinubu came to the studio, intending to “come on the programme to talk about religious freedom, and I said, ‘I’m not gonna meet with them'”.
The broadcaster vowed that he is never going to “give them a platform to cover up what they’re doing in Nigeria.”
Recall that despite the pushback by the Federal Government that there is no genocide against any religion, some lawmakers in the US have insisted that Christians are being targeted.
