A young woman identified as Bola has allegedly d!ed by suicide in the Ogba area of Lagos, leaving her colleagues and neighbours in shock.
According to reports, Bola was a staff member of Wado Credit & Co. in Ogba who had been under personal and financial pressures in recent times. She was described as hardworking and reserved.
A bottle of pesticide, believed to be the substance involved, was reportedly found near her.
A note reportedly found at the scene revealed the depth of her emotional struggles. The note suggested she was overwhelmed and uncertain about her circumstances.
“Nothing is working in my life," the note said.
She went on to describe the challenges she faced in her work and her mental strain: "My figures are low. My brain is clogged up."
The note also reflected her concerns about the economy and her decision-making, saying, "The economy is getting harder. My decisions are wrong."
"My mind is messed up," the note said. "The future doesn’t seem bright at all. I see extreme hardship."
The note indicated that the emotional pressure on her had become unbearable.
"I can’t bear the pain anymore,” the note read.
Bola also apologised to her family and friends, naming them in the note.
"I’m sorry Dad, I’m sorry Olúwafẹ́mi, Adédayọ̀, Oluwaseun, Tolúwalase, Oluwatosin, Ifeoluwa."
Finally, she appealed to her faith, saying, "Dear Lord, have mercy on me."
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the command was not yet aware of the incident and would need time to reach the relevant divisional officers for confirmation.
“We are not aware of the case yet. But we will contact our divisional officers for details,” she said.
