The incident was brought to public attention through a post shared on social media on Friday by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
According to the post, the attack occurred around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday along Jwak village, after troops received a distress call reporting that suspected criminals were attempting to forcibly seize a motorcycle from its rider.
The victim, identified as Shuaibu Ayuba, had already been attacked by the suspects before soldiers arrived at the scene.
Security sources indicated that the prompt arrival of the troops was enough to throw the attackers off and send them fleeing into nearby bushes, effectively foiling the operation.
Ayuba was rescued and promptly transported to a medical facility in Mangu for treatment. Security sources added that efforts to locate and apprehend the fleeing suspects remain ongoing, and that patrols in the area have been stepped up to deter any further incidents.
