Kenneth Okonkwo, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has declared that casting a vote for Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), is essentially the same as voting for President Bola Tinubu.

Okonkwo made this claim during an interview online, arguing that whether one supports Tinubu directly or indirectly, the end result remains the same a fragmented opposition only serves to strengthen the incumbent's chances of victory.

In his view, splitting votes among coalition and opposition candidates ultimately works in Tinubu's favour.

He also took a swipe at Peter Obi over his brief and controversial stint with the ADC, pointing out that no one compelled Obi to join the party he did so of his own accord, only to walk away just one week before the deadline, offering reasons that Okonkwo found unconvincing.

He questioned the credibility of a candidate who was unwilling to go through a competitive primary process, arguing that such a person lacks the grit required to lead a country facing serious challenges.

Okonkwo concluded with a blunt warning to voters, stating that anyone who casts their ballot for Peter Obi in 2027 should be under no illusion they would effectively be handing Tinubu another term in office.
