Police Neutralise Four Suspected Armed Separatists in Anambra Operation

A police-led joint security operation in Anambra State has resulted in the neutralisation of several suspected armed militants following an encounter along a rural road in Orumba South.

The Anambra State Police Command has n£utralised four suspected members of a s£cessionist armed gang following a confrontation along the Ogboji–Ajalli Road in Orumba South Local Government Area.

The operation was carried out on Tuesday night by a police-led Joint Security Patrol Team acting on credible intelligence about the movement of h£avily armed suspects in the area, according to a statement by Command Spokesman SP Tochukwu Ikenga.

Items recovered from the scene include a General Purpose Machine Gun with 53 rounds of linked live ammunition, two AK-47 rifles, two magazines, 29 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition, 13 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, and four und£tonated improvised explosive devices.

Also recovered were police camouflage uniforms and accessories, a white Toyota Sienna bus with registration number KJA 919 KH, ten Android phones, two feature phones, a laptop computer, a Point-of-Sale machine, two power banks, ATM cards, a National Identification Card, a Driver's Licence, assorted charms and two live cartridges.

Ikenga said preliminary investigations indicated that other members of the gang fled into surrounding bushes with gunshot injuries, prompting the Joint Security Team to intensify combing and search operations in the area to apprehend the fleeing suspects and recover additional w£apons.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustained intelligence-led operations against cr!minal elements threatening the peace and security of residents across Anambra State.
