Two Police Officers Killed as Kaduna Rescue Mission Turns Deadly

A security operation in Kaduna State has ended in tragedy after officers who successfully rescued kidnapped victims were later ambushed on their return.

Two police officers have been k!ll3d during a security operation that resulted in the rescue of nine k!dn@pped victims in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The Kaduna State Police Command disclosed that the victims were rescued after security operatives responded to intelligence reports indicating that armed b@ndits had abducted several farmers in Unguwan Sa'idu village on June 24.

According to the command's spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, police personnel including operatives of the Police Mobile Force and the Kaduna Vigilance Service were mobilised to the area, where they engaged the b@ndits in a gun battle.

The superior firepower of the security team forced the att@ckers to flee into nearby bushes, abandoning their captives. Nine victims were subsequently rescued, found tied up and left behind by the fleeing b@ndits.

However, tragedy struck on the return journey.

The security team was ambushed by suspected b@ndits who had laid in wait along the route, and two police officers sustained fatal gunshot wounds, d¥ing in the line of duty.

Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, condoled with the families and colleagues of the slain officers, describing them as heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.

The command stated that investigations and tactical operations are ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the att@ck.
