Shock Arrest on Lagos Highway as Police Intercept Bus Carrying Human Hand Weapons and Suspected Stolen Goods

What began as a routine stop-and-search along a busy Lagos expressway quickly spiralled into a disturbing discovery that has left residents stunned.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old man, identified as Samson Onilewaji, for allegedly being found in possession of a suspected human body part, firearms, and other suspected stolen items during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

The suspect was intercepted after operatives flagged down an unregistered commercial shuttle bus conveying six occupants.

A search of the vehicle and its passengers led to the recovery of a suspected human right hand, two locally made pistols, one live cartridge, two axes, one Point of Sale, POS, terminal machine, and five ATM cards from the suspect.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed the arrest in a statement issued on Friday, noting that the suspect confessed to recently r0bbing three individuals of their personal belongings, including the recovered POS terminal machine and ATM cards.

Efforts are underway to identify and contact the victims for the return of their property.

The command added that investigations have commenced to ascertain the identity of the owner of the recovered suspected human hand, the circumstances surrounding its possession, and its intended use.

Efforts are also being intensified to identify and apprehend other criminal associates linked to the suspect.

The suspect is to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the command's commitment to combating violent crime across the state and urged residents to remain vigilant, encouraging them to support the police with timely and credible information to aid crime prevention and enhance public safety.
