Bala Haruna, a 25-year-old male, was arrested by Kano State Hisbah Board agents for reportedly trying to traffick two girls for domestic work in Arab nations.
The arrest was made on Thursday at one of the city's parking lots as the suspect was reportedly trying to transport the girls out of town.
According to Dr. Mujahid Aminuddeen, Deputy Commander-General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, who made the revelation on Friday.
"The suspect, from Kazaure Local Government Area of Jigawa State, was apprehended alongside two girls, Fatima Safiyanu, 23, from Daura in Katsina State, and Hasiya Haruna, 11, from Kazaure in Jigawa State," he stated.
In order to take the proper legal action, investigations are underway to determine how he planned to organize the victims' journey.
Aminuddeen claims that the board has turned over the suspects to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and advised women, parents, and the public to be cautious of those who are hiring people for domestic work overseas and to confirm the legitimacy of any job offers before accepting them.
