Two suspects have been detained by the Kwara State Police Command on suspicion of helping kidnappers kidnap three people in the state's Ifelodun Local Government Area.

After intelligence-led investigations connected the accused, Sauni Shehu and Auwalu Bala, to the abduction of three victims in Ogele Fulani Camp via Igbaja in the local government area, they were taken into custody.

This was revealed in a statement issued in Ilorin on Friday by Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the Police Public Relations Officer.

According to her, the arrests were a part of the command's ongoing attempts to break up abduction networks and prosecute everyone involved.

"Operatives of the Kwara State Police Command have arrested two suspects for their alleged roles in facilitating the kidnapping of three persons in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state, demonstrating that the relentless pursuit of criminal elements and everyone connected to their activities continues to yield tangible results," Ejire-Adeyemi stated.

The defendants were being probed for alleged kidnapping, aiding and abetting kidnapping, and criminal conspiracy, she continued.

Following covert intelligence-led operations that connected them to the kidnapping of three victims at Ogele Fulani Camp via Igbaja, Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State, they were apprehended.

"As efforts have been intensified to identify and apprehend every other member of the criminal syndicate, the suspects are currently providing the police with useful information," she continued.

Adekimi Ojo, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, responded to the news by reiterating the command's dedication to continuing intelligence-led operations targeted at combating abduction and other violent crimes throughout the state.

"Intelligence-led policing, proactive crime prevention, and the protection of lives and property are the cornerstones of Inspector-General of Police IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu's policing vision, which the command is steadfastly committed to advancing," Ojo stated.

The commissioner assured citizens that every intelligence report received would be expertly used to bolster continuing efforts to combat abduction and other violent crimes in the state, and he urged people to continue providing the police with fast, reliable, and useful information.
