Oyo Education Board Breaks Silence on Exam Result Leak Claims

A controversy over alleged leakage of a recently concluded Common Entrance Examination has triggered a strong response from Oyo's basic education authorities.

The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board has firmly denied any involvement in the alleged leakage of recently concluded Common Entrance Examination results.

The Board, under the leadership of Executive Chairman Dr. Nureni Adeniran, characterised the allegation as false and misleading, capable of inflicting unwarranted damage to its institutional and leadership reputation.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Board clarified that it bears no responsibility for any stage of the examination process, including question setting, result production or handling.

The Board maintained that linking itself, its leadership or officials to any alleged leakage is entirely baseless.

The statement emphasised that Dr. Adeniran's administration has consistently demonstrated transparency, accountability and professional standards in executing its duties and will not permit unsubstantiated claims or speculative reporting to compromise institutional integrity.

The Board stressed that responsibility for examination-related matters rests with the Oyo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, which serves as the appropriate authority overseeing the assessment.

The Board urged that complaints, inquiries or concerns regarding examination conduct, administration or outcomes should be directed to the ministry rather than OYOSUBEB.

While acknowledging media responsibility in ensuring institutional accountability, the Board called upon broadcasters and media organisations to exercise diligence in verifying information before publishing or airing allegations concerning the Board or its personnel.

The Board cautioned that defamatory statements, false allegations or sustained smear campaigns targeting Dr. Adeniran's reputation would prompt vigorous legal remedies and pursuit of all available lawful protections.

The Board reaffirmed its commitment to its mandate of enhancing basic education quality across Oyo State and pledged continued collaboration with stakeholders to foster quality, transparency and accountability within the basic education sector.

It urged the public to disregard the allegation and obtain verified information from appropriate authorities regarding the examination.
