Man Rescued After Jumping Into Water From Jos Bridge

A middle-aged man in Plateau State's Jos North Local Government Area was reportedly saved on Friday after plunging into the water from the British American Bridge.

Residents and commuters in the vicinity became aware of the situation, which happened at around 1pm, and promptly responded to save the man.

The witnesses who told the reporters in Jos about the event on Friday were surprised by the man's behavior.

Mr. Dalyop Gyang, an eyewitness who claimed to have been passing through the neighborhood at the time, gave a description of what happened.

Gyang stated, "He was eventually rescued after several people raised the alarm."

The individual "walked toward the bridge at around 1pm on Friday afternoon before jumping into the water," he said.

According to Gyang, everyone in the area contributed to the rescue.

"People around the bridge worked together to get the man out of the water, and the rescue operation was carried out quickly," he continued.

He added that the individual needed immediate medical assistance because it seemed like he had been hurt during the procedure.

The man was then brought to a hospital for medical care, according to our correspondent.

Security personnel were later saw at the area, according to Mercy John, another eyewitness.

She also mentioned that after the incident, security personnel came to the area.

"A few police officers arrived, but I'm not sure what they were going to do."

According to our correspondent, at the time this report was filed, the circumstances leading up to the man's action were unknown.

Alabo Alfred, the Plateau State Police Command's spokesperson, was not immediately available for comment when approached.

However, according to sources at the command's Jos headquarters, an investigation has started to determine the incident's circumstances.
