Osun Police Debunk Viral Video Claim After Officers Allegedly Flee Drone

Police in Osun State have dismissed claims circulating online that their officers ran away from a drone.

The police said the video making the rounds actually came from a Yoruba film that was shot in May, not from real police action.

A police spokesperson explained that someone who was not part of the film crew recorded a particular scene and mistakenly described it as officers fleeing from a drone.

The police denied the claim outright, saying no officers ran away from anything.

The spokesman criticized media outlets for not checking their facts before publishing the video with misleading descriptions.

He said presenting unverified footage with false explanations is not a small mistake, especially when it is used to mock a security agency.

The police called the false narrative damaging to the reputation of the police force.

The command asked news platforms that shared the video to take down the incorrect caption and issue corrections.

Police officials also urged media organisations to stop presenting film scenes or unconfirmed footage as proof of police misconduct or cowardice.

The spokesman said the police command remains committed to professional, lawful policing in the state and will continue protecting lives and property.

He said the command is open to accurate reporting but will not tolerate deliberate distortion of images, videos or reports meant to damage the force's reputation.
