Defence Minister General Christopher Musa (rtd.) has provided an update on the investigation into the alleged coup plot aimed at overthrowing President Bola Tinubu, confirming that intelligence agencies are still working through the details of the conspiracy.

Speaking during an interview on a current affairs television programme on Thursday, Musa confirmed that the plot was genuine and that investigators have verified the suspects' clear intention to seize power.

The alleged coup plotters have already been arraigned in court where they face trial, though the investigation itself remains ongoing.

The Department of State Services and the National Intelligence Agency continue their joint investigation, Musa explained, as they want to be thorough and certain of their findings before making public statements.

This careful approach means the agencies are taking time to uncover all the details surrounding the conspiracy.

Musa described the suspects as a group of misguided individuals who appear to have entered into the plot without any coherent reasoning or legitimate grievance.

He suggested that when the public eventually learns their motivations, it will become clear that their actions were driven by confusion and poor judgment rather than any sound political or ideological purpose.

The case now rests with the courts as the legal process unfolds.
