Super Falcons footballer Michelle Alozie has decided to start doing her own hair after paying $150 for her first professional haircut in 10 years.

Alozie said she was shocked by the price and announced online that she would handle her hair herself going forward rather than return to a salon.

Her comment sparked debate among Nigerians about whether the amount was too expensive for hairstyling.

Some people argued that $150 is actually cheap for salon services in the United States and that if she wanted cheaper rates she should have gone to Nigeria.

Others questioned why she was complaining given how much she earns as a professional athlete.

A few noted that doing her own hair would save money but pointed out that hairstyling is both a full-time job and expensive.
