The SUG of the Olabisi Onabanjo University have demanded that N10 million be paid to each family that lost a child in the fatal auto crash of June 26 2015.

The grieving students of the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), on Tuesday demanded a hefty N80 million as compensation for the families of their 8 colleagues who died in an auto crash on June 26.

The Students Union Government (SUG) in a statement revealed by its spokesperson, Damilola Adelesi, demanded N10 million each for the families of the eight victims.

“We demand that Celplas Industries Nigeria Ltd compensate the families of the deceased in the sum of N10 million each.

“We use this medium as a final reminder to all concerned parties of our demands and issue a fresh seven working day ultimatum which starts from July 7 to July 15,” the statement said.

The statement lamented that there had not been any contact between the company which owns the chemicals in the container and OOU management or its SUG.

The students had on June 29 staged a peaceful protest at the accident scene and later attacked the premises of the company where they vandalised some trucks.

The students also demanded that the driver of the trailer should be arrested and prosecuted with immediate effect.

They further demanded that the company should be prosecuted while the state government should be involved in the burial arrangement of the victims.

The fatal accident occurred when a container laden trailer driving against traffic on the Sagamu-Benin expressway crushed the commercial bus conveying the students.
