Mr. Lateef Raji,a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress accuses Mr Femi Fani-Kayode of being envious of the impressive achievements of the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Chief Fani-Kayode and Bola Ahmed Tinubu
As the interparty rivalry between the political actors in the All Progressives Congress and the People's Democratic Party worsens, a chieftain of the APC, Lateef Raji, has taken a swipe Femi Fani-Kayode.
In an interview with Punch correspondents, Lateef Raji, who is a former Special Adviser to former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola accused the highly controversial Fani Kayode of being jealous of the bright achievements of the former Governor of Lagos state, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
It would be recalled that Fani Kayode predicts an inconsequential status for the other geopolitical zones in Nigeria as well as the South-West in the next 4 years following the dominance of the North by the Buhari-led administration.
Raji described such a statement as misleading given the fact that Tinubu had helped produce a Yoruba man, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, as the Vice-President.
He said, “He and many others just envy Tinubu because that statement is flat. No one can take Yoruba for granted. How can we be marginalised when we hold the number two position in the country? Yoruba cannot be marginalised in anyway.
“People envy Tinubu and always wish for his downfall. However, if you remember very well, these were the same people that predicted that the APC would not merge successfully. After we did, they predicted that we would not succeed at the polls but we proved them wrong. So, we will keep ignoring them.”
He concluded with the view that the most important appointments in Nigeria are yet to be made by President Muhammadu Buhari who he strongly believes will put the Federal Character into consideration while making his next set of appointments.
