Unbelievable! 55-year-old Woman Jumps Into Well Because She Didn't Get Attention From Daughter

A fifty-five year old woman who was suffering from neglect took drastic measures to get attention. See what she did.

A 55-year-old woman, identified as Amoke Adeko, has killed herself by jumping into a well in front of her residence at Ajilekege street, Pipeline bus stop, Idimu, Lagos State, on Friday, August 7.

Punch learnt that the deceased had been traumatised after her husband’s death 8 months ago.

Lagos State Fire Service officials, led by firefighter Tosin Ologun, responded to a distress call from a resident of the area. Her body was said to have been recovered dead at about 11pm.

It was gathered that the grandson of the deceased was said to be marking his birthday that day when Amirat (Adeko’s daughter) the mother of the birthday boy, had brought a package of food prepared during the ceremony for her mother.

However, Amirat refused to give her mother the package in person, but sent someone else to take the food to her.

Adeko took the action as being shunned by her daughter and decided to end her life.

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: “The woman had not been herself since her husband died. Amirat brought the food for her that afternoon, but she avoided her and sent it through someone else. I don’t know why she did that, but the mother felt embarrassed because she saw her daughter from afar.

"It was around 5pm. About two hours later, she jumped into the well.”

A neighbour, who heard a sudden thud, rushed to the well and saw her slippers beside it. He was said to have raised the alarm after he went to her room and looked round the compound but could not find her.

Grace Agboyin, a friend of the deceased while lamenting her death, said she was the one that used to look after her.
