FAAN has revealed that the body would no longer tolerate the indiscriminate parking of oil tankers within the Lagos airport.

Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos

Mr. Saleh Dunoma, Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), on Monday revealed that the indiscriminate parking of oil tankers within the Lagos airport environment would no longer be tolerated.

He spoke during an interactive forum with the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) in Lagos on Monday.

Dunoma said that indiscriminate parking along the airport road was capable of jeopardising safety and security of the airport, which would adversely affect airport users.

According to the managing director, adequate parking space has already been provided for the tanker drivers, with a standing agreement between the Authority and leaders of the tanker drivers' union.

He said that the agreement was that the drivers would only make use of the aviation designated trailer parks for parking purposes, except during loading or discharging of fuel at the tank farms.

The managing director reiterated the resolution of the Authority to ensure absolute compliance of all tanker drivers to the rules of engagement.

He directed relevant security agencies to rise up to the challenge of enforcing strict compliance with the extant rules of parking for tanker drivers within the airport environment.
