Due to lack of power supply, the team set-up to inspect materials by the Rivers State APC were rendered useless.
A special taskforce set up by the chairman of INEC, Amina Zakari, to supervise the inspection of materials by the Rivers State APC was frustrated yesterday due to lack power supply at INEC office in Port Harcourt.
Reports say that the taskforce team members led by the Director of Legal Services, Ibrahim Bawa, were confronted with the reality that the two generating plants supplying power to the INEC office were bad and public power supply had been severed by the Port Harcourt Electricity Company, PHED.
Henry Odili, the leader of the APC legal team at the Rivers State election tribunal revealed this morning that it is disturbing that all these are happening at this time.
“It is a wonderful coincidence that the two power generating plants supplying power to the INEC office suddenly packed up at the same time and public power supply cut off from electricity pole. I don’t want to point fingers to any direction but I can assure you that before now, we forwarded a court order to INEC to allow the inspection of the electoral materials but we were denied access and what is happening now has further proven that INEC has been lying,” Odili posited.
Henry Odili assured that taskforce team members are doing everything possible to get the job done.
Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Mrs Gezila Khan was arrested by the Department of State Security, DSS, based on the allegation that she had disobeyed the court order by denying APC access to election materials.
