The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Anambra state command, has declared an alleged drug baron in the state, one Uche Baron wanted, described by the agency as the highest distributor of cannabis sativa in the state and environs.
Mr. Sule Momodu, the agency’s sector Commander in Awka, who briefed the media in the Anambra state capital on Tuesday, said Uche Baron for whom a manhunt by the command had already begun, had a warehouse inside the Onitsha main market where he syndicated the cannabis sativa, adding that he escaped arrest on the 20th of this month when the command raided the market.
He said that the agency had arrested one Ugochukwu Chukwu who is the syndicate’s accomplice, pointing out that Chukwu (30) is Uche Baron’s in-law and hailed from Okwe, in the Onuimo local government area of Imo state.
Mr. Momodu said cannabis sativa weighing 109.9kg was recovered from Chukwu upon his arrest, stressing that he would soon be arraigned in court, while appealing to judges to assist the agency in its war against drug offenders.
