A former striker with the defunct Stationery Stores of Lagos, Ndondo, has said the performance of the Super Eagles at the forthcoming FIFA World Cup would be determined by the NFF.

Mr Jesus Ndongo has said the the performance of the Super Eagles at the forthcoming FIFA World Cup billed for Russia next summer would be determined by the Nigeria Football Federation.

According to Daily Sunsport, Ndongo, a former striker with the defunct Stationery Stores of Lagos revealed on telephone from his base in Spain that his assertion is based on past experiences the senior national team had gone through in preparation for the World Cup.

“The current crop of players in the Super Eagles are young and rearing to go but I am of the opinion that their performance at the Russia 2018 World Cup will solely be determined by the Nigeria Football Federation in terms of how the team is prepared.

“Early preparation is key to the Super Eagles and at a befitting camp site for a World Cup bound team. The players must not be lacking in any area such as camp allowances, bonuses and entitlements. In fact, I think the NFF should declare to the team what they stand to get for the Mundial just like the German FA did last week.”

The petite striker who hails from Equatorial Guinea but made a name for himself in the Nigeria league also asked for total cooperation from all stakeholders to forestall interferences in technical matters concerning the team.

“I monitored the World Cup qualifiers and must say I’m impressed with the Super Eagles confirming their place in Russia with a match to spare. That performance speaks volumes about the make-up of the team and the technical crew.

"The Eagles deserve every assistance they can get ahead of the World Cup to that the players would be focused on the task at hand.”

Ndong, who is the Sporting Director of Canonsport Academy based in his native country noted that the future of the game in Africa lies with the youths and that is why he is happy with the composition of the present Super Eagles.

“The Super Eagles at the moment are young and that gives them an advantage over other teams. Though, the team still needs some experienced players but their youthfulness will see them progress beyond the second round. The youths have the game now and that is what is happening with the national team of Equatorial Guinea to the CHAN 2018 in Morocco that will be parading 11 youth players of from the Canosport Academy. We bank on them to make a difference at the Championship.”
