The leg of a popular television presenter has appeared to have vanished from sight after he sat down on a "haunted wheelchair"

Phillip Schofield's leg appeared to be amputated when he sat in a haunted wheelchair on yesterday's This Morning

Philip Schofield, a popular English TV presenter's leg appeared to have disappeared from sight or even amputated after sitting in a "haunted wheelchair" on This Morning, a popular TV show.

On yesterday's show, Phil, 55, and co-host Holly Willoughby chatted to paranormal investigator Neil Packer about a series of items including the wheelchair.

The investigator claimed the wheelchair was haunted by hundreds of wounded soldiers and added: "I sat in it and it felt like my left leg had been amputated."

Showing he wasn't scared, Phillip - who is a known sceptic of anything paranormal - went and sat in the chair and wound up Holly by pulling a scared face.

He joked: "I feel like….perfectly normal!"

But one viewer caught the moment one of his legs looked like it had been amputated, just as Neil had described.

They wrote alongside it on Facebook: "I don't want to alarm anyone but my sister received a bunch of flowers today and when she took a photo of them she later noticed Phillip's left leg looked to have been amputated.

"The scary part is that during that time Phillip was sitting in the haunted wheelchair that people have reportedly claimed they felt numbness down their left side whilst sitting in the very same chair!!!"

It wasn't the only spooky thing to happen during the segment, as Holly was left freaked out when the studio was plunged into darkness during the experiment with the haunted antiques.

The spooky items were left in the building overnight to see whether any paranormal activity would take place.

And to Holly’s horror, video footage showed that at 3.41 am the lights in the studio went completely off and didn’t come back on.

The scared looking host asked the investigator, who has opened the first paranormal antique museum, what might have happened.

He told them: “That’s really interesting because I asked the spirits to affect something.

“I was hoping it would be live on the show…”

Phillip revealed: “The security guy promises he didn’t turn the lights off.”
