Justice at Last for 11-year-old Girl Raped by a 54-year-old Okada Rider in Ondo

 

54-year old Seun Aderemi, raped an 11-year old primary six pupil until she fainted. She was raped with the connivance of Seun's pregnant wife, Oluwayemisi and son, Ayobami, in their house. 

 

She was on her way to write common entrance examination when she decided to stop over to ask her school mate, Ayobami, to join her to trek to the exam venue. Along the line, she was forcefully pulled into a room where she was raped by Seun. 

 

Seun's wife and son were around but failed to raise any alarm. Seun only rushed out of the room when she started bleeding and fainted. She was rushed to a private hospital and her parents who are security guards, Pastor and Mrs Diya, were informed.

 

Seun was later arrested but he told the police that the girl was his girlfriend. The matter was eventually turned against the victim and Seun got a lawyer who secured his freedom. 

 

The poor parents of the victim, who earn N8,000 each a month took solace in God’s intervention. But relief came their way when the state Women Affairs Ministry waded in. They helped her parents get a lawyer to get her justice. 

 

Seun has now been sentenced to 9 years in jail with hard labour. During the trial, Seun's wife and son told the court that the girl was Seun's girlfriend. They said she was given N300 after the sex and that she consented to it.

 

The girl couldn't sit for the examination as she had to be operated upon. Her private part was said to have been badly affected. The act, according to some Police detectives, may have some diabolical undertone which they are yet to unravel.

 

Seun's lawyer however pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy because he is the bread winner of his house and that the wife is nursing a three month old baby.
