Ogun State First Lady, Mrs. Amosun Reacts to Money Laundering Reports Posted by Blogger

The controversy trailing reports posted by a blogger that the wife of Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State was involved in money laundering, has gathered more steam.

Ogun state police command arraigned a blogger Emmanuel Ojo before the state magistrate court for reportedly writing a false report against the first lady of the State, Olufunsho Amosun.
 
 
According to Vanguard, the accused who pleaded not guilty to the 8-count charge against him was granted bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties.
 
Chief Magistrate Anthony Araba, who presided over the case, also ruled that the two sureties must be residents within the jurisdiction of the court with landed properties.
 
In the charge sheet, Ojo was accused of publishing a false report, intending to slander, cause hatred against Mrs Amosun.
 
The Ogun state police command confirmed the arrest of Emmanuel Ojo who published a Facebook post, in which he accused the First Lady of Ogun state of money laundering.

Speaking with The Punch, Muyiwa Adejobi, the state police public relations officer, said Ojo was being detained at the command’s headquarters in Abeokuta for questioning.
 
Adejobi disclosed that the suspect was trailed and arrested by security men on Saturday, September 26.
 
The blogger was apprehended for a story, in which he alleged that Mrs Amosun was quizzed in London for money laundering. According to him, the First Lady was detained by the London Police for being in possession of $300,000.
 
 
Reacting to the accusations, Mrs Amosun described the story as false and denied being involved in any money-laundering saga.
 
Adejobi stated that the police command received a complaint from the state government over what they termed a false publication.
 
“We received a complaint from the state government on the suspect, and he was arrested. Presently, he is with us at Eleweran. We are still conducting our investigations. If he is found wanting, he will be charged to court accordingly,” he added.
